Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were quite excited at the press conference for 2 States at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai today. The young Bollywood stars were cracking jokes and constantly teasing each other. More flame to those link-up rumours!
At the event hosted by City 1016 RJ's Meghna and Rohit, Alia and Arjun were asked to sing. Serenading became fun as Alia sang Balam Pichkari from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (apt choice considering she once confessed that Ranbir Kapoor makes her go weak in her knees). Meanwhile, Arjun chose Tune maari entriyaan from his own flick Gunday!
He also joked that Alia was not very spontaneous at all, and that she was really slow in answering questions! But amid all the banter, there was some serious conversation too.
Alia said that the film, which follows the romance of a South Indian girl and a North Indian boy, has tried to break away from stereotypes. "It was a conscious decision and we stayed away from making a caricature of the characters," she said.
Arjun added, "These stereotypes are mostly in our elders, today's younger lot blends in easily and don't have such notions."
Arjun said that he has not read the best-selling book by Chetan Bhagat till date while Alia revealed that she read the book much before she was offered the film and felt that she was able to connect better to the character because of this.
Arjun continued, "Chetan had faith in the production house and we hope we are able to make him proud of what he sees on screen."
